Founder
Amber R. Horton
Amber R. Horton started the club with a small circle of readers who were tired of meetings that ended in plot summary. She wanted rooms where a novel could be taken as seriously as a painting in a gallery, its structure examined, its choices defended, its silences noticed.
That circle became a network spanning the UK, US, Australia and Africa, with interactive author sessions, signature literary events and a reading culture that welcomes every genre and every level of reader.
Her curatorial focus has always centered Black voices, culture and storytelling alongside emerging talent and translated works, expanding what members read and how deeply they read it.
